Farm History.
In the 1840’s the family land showed up on some of the first New Albany-Plain Township maps. Like many Ohio farmsteads, Doran’s raised milking shorthorn cows, chickens, sheep and grew grain. Some of the original structures that housed the animals and products remain on the property. In the 1970’s the family’s youngest son, Jim Doran, took over farming the family land shifting it to fruit and vegetable based production.
Jim has always had a passion for farming, leading him to study agriculture and horticulture at The Ohio State University. After nearly 50 years of farming, what started as a farm stand on the side of the road turned into a market full of fresh produce. The focus shifted to strawberries, corn, tomatoes, melons, and pumpkins. With wife Michele and daughters Megan and Renee by his side, Jim continues to deliver quality, homegrown produce to friends and customers.
